5.20 - Visual Controls

Patterns and images help us to take in information quickly. Changes in visual presentation are also more easily detected - our eyes and brains work on exception management. Visual controls harness the power of images to help control events in manufacturing.

With visual controls, every time we look we can quickly see what is different - what’s right and what’s wrong:-

  • What’s right - we can ignore
  • What’s wrong - we can put right
